So much for a great start! :)

Hey everyone!

This week has gotten off to a great start! We did a 1/4 sheet cake for FSU, and we got an order for our first Cupcake Bouquet! Good times!

This week, we have a cake that consists of two very specific cars - a 2010 Camaro and a '72 Chevy Chevelle. There is a lot of history behind this cake order, so we're under intense pressure to not only get it right, but to make it the greatest! This will make her birthday great, but it will be sure to help us out in Tallahassee!

We've got new signs up, and a couple of lawn signs to point you our way, so come see us!

Thanks so much for following us! You guys are wonderful! :* Keep it sweet!

So here we go...

We're trying something a bit different here...

I recently saw Julie & Julia, and she inspired me. No matter what, she found time to blog. We've been stressed. We've been busy. But you guys should know what's up.

So here's one of the new things we're going to do - GIVEAWAYS!

We're at 10 followers now. Once we get to 25, we're going to give away a free dozen of specialty cupcakes. So invite your friends. And we'll have another giveaway at 50 and so on. The more followers, the bigger the gifts.

Alright, sweets - let's make this thing successful. Keep me accountable! :) Get sweet on life :*

Busy, Busy, BUSY!

It's been a LONG time since I've updated the blog! I can't believe I've left you this long without any updates :( We've had so many cakes, cupcakes and orders that things have been wonderful. I'm clearly going to have to do this in more than one blog. This blog will be dedicated to the cakes that have gone out, I'll have another for our upcoming cupcakes, sweets and other exciting things that we can talk about...FUN!
Here's a FAMU cake that we did for a graduate. Congrats, Sam! :)
Here's a Cake for our friend Luke, and he wants to be in politics. So we brought the future to him! :)
A birthday cake for Stella, ordered by a coworker! It's a Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Icing and Buttercream Decorations :)
Ah, the beloved Corset Cake :) We had SO MUCH FUN with this cake! We love the Chantilly Lace pattern and all! Yum! :)
This Hair Dryer cake was requested by Athena Salon here in Tallahassee. Mo and I covered the dryer, while Mo rocked the HOUSE on those rollers! I don't rightfully know what I'd do without her, but it wouldn't have been this cake, I can assure you of that! ;)I'll be back tomorrow with updates on cupcakes and things like that! We've got a busy weekend, a few more cakes, so it will be a bit crazy. We have a LOBSTER (yes, that is correct. That is why it's in all caps.) Those pictures will be up as soon as that thing is done! :)

Have a good night, sweets! We'll talk with you soon! :*

Hold Fast To Dreams...

I can't say anything else about today, other than this dream is coming true. I can't believe the awesomeness that is God, and what He's doing. :) This morning, we had no customers. After such an amazing day yesterday, I was a little discouraged. I asked Mo if that was normal, and she nice and politely reminded me that people were at work and wouldn't be coming to get cupcakes. Ok, good.

Then someone called and asked where we were located, and wanted our hours. We wondered how she heard about us - without having driven by...she said she read it in the paper. The paper? The paper. We were confused. We thought she was too.

Then it happened. Our friend called and let us know that she had emailed someone at the Democrat over the weekend to see if she could get us in. It worked. We were in print and on the web. And then it kept happening. And then it didn't stop happening. And then we had lines of people waiting for cupcakes. And then we ran out of cupcakes. And we had to make more.

And we wouldn't trade it for the world. Today was incredibly amazing. And it can only go up from here. :)

I want to leave you with this:

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow

...Langston Hughes

We love each and every one of you that stopped by. Check out the website for tomorrow's flavors and specials.

Get sweet on your dreams. It works :*

Good Day!

Today was a fantastically fabulous day! Mo and I FINALLY got to take some time off, as we're closed on Sunday and Monday. That was the first time we got some rest - well, some - in MONTHS! It was SO worth it! We came back refreshed! :)Yesterday, however, instead of keeping it a day off, we decided to come in and do a bit of baking and free PR. We came in to make LOTS of mini cupcakes, bag them up and walk them to the offices across the street from our shop. Through rain and sun, it was SO much fun! (Hey! I'm a poet, and didn't even KNOW it!) We thanked God because it really could have been hot and gross, as are many days of Tallahassee summers, but he gave us some cloud cover. Fun times :) That brought us some customers today! And some people that were definitely interested in what we had to offer. Great times.

Last night I spent some time with a great friend and mentor of mine, Marion Shaffer of Art Of The Catwalk. She has been INSTRUMENTAL in getting me where I am today. Letting me present as a vendor at her events when my money was SO less than funny. She's an amazing woman, mentor and Mama. And I love her :*
Today was T-shirt Tuesday, where everyone that purchases a T-shirt receives a FREE Cupcake every Tuesday they sport their shirt! Of course, you can buy a shirt ANY day of the week, but the free cupcake is only good on Tuesday.
Speaking of cupcakes - tomorrow is a very special day. Wednesday's specialty cupcake is FORBIDDEN FRUIT (note the apples...). We both know how much you want to try it. We do. It's true. So we've got a challenge. The first 5 customers that can come in and win our trivia challenge will get a FREE Forbidden Fruit cupcake. Wanna know what's in it? I can't tell you! How do we know THAT'S not the trivia challenge...? Hmmm.....

The theme for tomorrow is CHOCOLATE! We had so many people come in and ask for it today, we had to make it a staple. So get this - our Mini Cakes will be triple chocolate, our Cake Lollipops will be dipped in chocolate, we'll have Chocolate Cupcakes - it's everywhere!! Tomorrow's menu is: Vanilla, Chocolate, FORBIDDEN FRUIT, Pink Lemonade, Red Velvet, Vanilla Gluten Free, Chocolate Mini Cakes and Vanilla/Chocolate Cake Lollipops. So much chocolate I can't keep up! :)

Thanks for checking in! Get sweet on this Forbidden Fruit - go against everything you've ever heard about it ;)

Scooby-Dooby Doo and other cartoons we remember!

Soooo...I pretty much learned last night that I can't do anything else with my life other than this :) I have a wonderful time at work, I have a wonderful partner in crime, and things are just lovely. Just amazing. But on to today!
Today was much, MUCH slower than yesterday, which gave us some time to split up and run errands and work on - THE SCOOBY DOO CAKE! Which was tons of fun :)
Mo is just starting out working with Fondant and cake decorating. You'd never tell it after this week of working in the shop. She's a natural at it, and I can't wait until she's on her own cakes. :) More on that in a second.
Today's menu was Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, Pink Lemonade with Buttercream, Black Bottoms,Vanilla Mini cakes and Vanilla Cake Lollipops. We were going to debut Bad Romance (shout out) but we decided to wait on it. That's a special one, and we want people to try them and enjoy them!

We got to work on a very, very special Scooby Doo cake for a very, very special family. :) They were invaluable in helping us with the shop. Dan Knippel helped us paint by giving us professional lessons, and allowed us to use his professional equipment to make our shop beautifully amazing. How wonderful is that?? This cake had to be amazing.
And it was.

Tomorrow, we've got a Business Plan Coaching meeting with Mr. Mark Raciappa of ActionCOACH, which is going to be AMAZING! I'm about to work on my homework, and we'll see you back here bright and early tomorrow! :)

Thanks for checking in! :)
Oh, good grief! What business owner that has a blog doesn't update said blog on the day of her Grand Opening?! I have let you down, and for this, I am sorry. :( But I'm going to make up for it by giving you DOUBLE today!

Soooo...OMG! We opened yesterday! All the months, weeks and days of hard (hard) work and sleepless nights has led us to this! I will say, that if I THOUGHT I wasn't getting any sleep then...I had another thing coming! :)

It was an exciting day. We reported for duty at 5:30! We ma
de 4 dozen of each cupcake. We started our first day with Chocolate Gluten Free (provided by Mandy of Bacon & Bakin'!), Red Velvet with Cream Cheese icing, Pink Lemonade with Buttercream icing, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Black Bottom Cupcakes, Vanilla Mini Cakes and Vanilla Cake Lollipops. WHEW! :)

The Chamber of Commerce did their Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 3:00, and there were LOTS of people! I'll have pictures from that as soon as they're up on the Chamber Website. Sure, I got some, but I want these to be great! I have one of me and my daddy, here it is :) I love him :)

Take a look at some of the pics from the shop. We left EXHAUSTED but it was a good feeling (as is the norm lately lol) I got treated to some Olive Garden take out after by my wonderfully supportive boyfriend, and got some MUCH NEEDED sleep. Only to wake up at 5:30 to do it all again :) But more on THAT in the next post!

Thanks for checking in! Even when there's nothing here :) Keep it sweet! ;)

Our sign!

Here's some of the Vintage pieces we got from Bling & Things! :)

Ever popular in the south, The Red Velvets! Can't you hear them singing??
